Acclaimed Grammy winners Wilco played to a sold-out South Side Ballroom Thursday night, which was also the night before the groups full album Cousin hit streaming platforms. Opening the night was solo singer songwriter and composer Shara Nova known by her moniker artists name, My Brightest Diamond performing intense and vibrant guitar and vocals.

Doors opened at 6:30pm when the crowd gathered until the ballroom was filled while Nova played heavy guitar riffs hyping the awaiting Wilco crowd. Wilco played for a solid two hours starting off their set at 8:30pm by debuting their new albums first two songs live for the first time. Frontman Jeff Tweedy made note to mention on stage the song openers, “Infinite Surprise” and “Ten dead” on the band’s setlist.

The group played old favorites like “Jesus, Etc.” and “Heavy Metal Drummer,” from their popular 2002 album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Wilco’s self-titled album track “Cousin” was played midway through their set along with other songs on the newly released album to an estatic crowd.

The group is currently touring in promotion for the new album and will be in Austin TX at Moody Amphitheater Friday night continuing their “Tour to Infinity,” tour across the country.
